There isn't currently a vaccination or medication to cure COVID-19. The virus affects all ages, however the elderly and people with existing medical conditions are more prone to severe symptoms. The main advice in preventing an infection is to adopt good hand hygiene.

There is a lot of talk about using a non-contact thermometer to take a temperature, however it can take a few days to become sick once infected, so an infected person may not show a temperature. You should always catch coughs and sneezes with disposable tissues, which are then binned, or in your sleeve. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands, and avoid close contact with people who are unwell.

The World Health Organisation says depending on the type of material that the virus is on, the temperature and humidity, the virus can last for up to three days on surfaces, maybe longer, which makes cleaning them even more important.
