Coronavirus will cause a disease, which we call COVID-19. It is called COVID-19, the "CO" stands for corona, the "VI" is virus and the "D" is disease, the "19" stands for 2019, which is when it was first found. In a similar way that the virus HIV causes the disease of AIDS. Now, with coronavirus, it's very easy transmitted and it is mainly transmitted through droplets, if you cough the droplets spread out to surfaces or people and then if they touch those surfaces or touch their face, that is how we can contract the virus. But the key thing we do is protection, we will show in other videos, but the main thing to do is protect yourself at all times. Now, there's been lots of guidance laid down, so what we are going to do now is just lists some basic advice that has been given out to avoid catching coronavirus and then contracting COVID-19.

The first thing you can do and the most important thing is to wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. And when we say wash them, we need to mean wash them correctly. On the other videos we will tell you exactly how to wash your hands. You can use alcohol, hand gel. And again, this must be applied correctly. Always wash your hands when you get home from work or when you get to work and at various times during the day. Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve but not your hands.

Always cough and sneeze into your elbow, into your sleeve, or into a tissue. Any tissues you use, you must place them into a bin immediately and wash your hands afterwards. And also make sure that the bins are emptied so you are not going to be spreading any of the virus around on the bins. Avoid close contact with people who are unwell, it's not always the easiest thing to do, if the person is at home with you, but in those instances sometimes you are going to need to self-isolate and that is something that we will cover in a separate video. Do not touch your eyes, mouth or nose. You will be very surprised how often you end up touching your face and this is one an easy way of transmitting the virus from your hands straight onto your face, so good general hygiene. The other one is challenge people and change their every routines to avoid any contact I.e keeping away from people, but also we do not need to shake some of his hand just to say hello to them.

And finally, we need to keep ourselves safe because currently there is no treatment for Coronavirus, COVID-19. All we are doing is just treating the symptoms until your body can fight off the virus and things like antibiotics don't work because they work on bacterial infections, not on viral infections. So we need to be vigilant and we need to fight this together.
