In this video, we talk about self-isolation. When someone gets or suspects that they have been contaminated with Coronavirus COVID-19, they are asked to self-isolate.
We talk about where the virus started to spread, and the purpose for self-isolation to try and slow the spread of the infection. We talk about the different groups that have been self-isolating in different countries, and how long they may have to do this.
We take a look at a few things that can help, and some of the rules associated with self-isolation. This includes what we need to do if you have other people in your home or people delivering goods to your door. This also includes the need to call on friends and family to help, and how they can help, with things like video conferencing, who to look out for based on risk.
We also describe the importance of eating correctly and taking care of yourself during this time, so you don't cause the problem to become worse. The key thing to keep in mind if you have the virus present is: do not have visitors.
We also discuss what to do to prepare for a time when we may need to self-isolate as a community, including being a good neighbour, by not panic buying everything in the store, and the reasons including the vulnerable being unable to get the supplies that they need and to ensure that there is enough food to go around. Prepare early, have reserves of things that you can, but don't overdo it.
